The TechWalk effort is organized by TechBirmingham, the Birmingham Area Technology Leadership Alliance with the extensive assistance of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Game Development Club.
The first TechWalk event in 2005 was sponsored through the generosity of ITAC Solutions, one of the leading recruitment agencies in Birmingham, Alabama. T-Mobile donated use of their Sidekick II phone devices for the first event.
CTS, Inc. joined the team of organizers in 2006, contributing time and energy for planning the events scheduled for September.
Our 2006 events were underwritten in partnership with Catalyst, by a grant from Verizon Wireless. This has given us a chance to purchase four Motorola Q phones/devices and maintain data/SMS service on the units for one year. We have already run the game 3 weekends in a row during September 2006 and are considering invitations to present the Urban Reversi game in other venues/locations.
